hi all, and especially scoobysnax as i was just reading your post.. i saw a bit of the news yesterday and the archbishop of canterbury was giving a sermon.

the newscaster said that he was warning about the world's obsession with youth.

i'm not so sure that's what he was saying though.. he said, or words to this effect, that he felt pity for those who believed that they would never grow old, suffer illness and death in this life, and 'god help them' because of the illusion that they were living under.. i don't think he was talking about youth.

As I sat in church the other day, I looked at all the choir people and listened to the preacher and knew that I personally didn't buy a bit of it and believed they were all worshipping thin air. It seemed strange to me, being there with these sincere people, and believing they were so in love with this god that didn't exist. It was almost surreal.
I would never go back to the fantasy world. If it's ever proved to me, then it wouldn't be a fantasy. But as long as there's no proof, I can't see me being involved in it again.

i believe that jehovah's witnesses are a "cult".

to be a "good roman catholic" you have to be "cultic", that's for sure!

their beliefs and practices, rites and ceremonies are simply weird!

we former BORG call JWs BORG, but the catholics are the true spirit of the BORG, assimulate and conquer and take

what works from their victims.... very adaptable, JWs are dead by comparison and could never attain to the several hundred millions of followers the catholics have amassed

but if they popped up just ten years ago fully formed as they are now, they would laughed out of existance, time has a way of legitimizing the truely idiotic and strange

we had two congregations meet and the hall still wasn't full!

i noticed a change in the talk from last year.

zen nudist, my 1st ever visit to KH last night, my 1st ever meeting with an elder tommorow. Yeah, in the chat before the service, some nice bloke went on and on about the 11 Apostles. Why is this such a big deal then?

it seems to revolve around the distinction unique to JWs that only the CHOSEN member of the NEW COV. or ANNOINTED may partake of the bread and wine.....

which means that Judas would not have been given such by Jesus as Jesus KNEW he would not be part of the NEW COV. etc...in JW mythology, when the bible clearly indicates otherwise.

Isn't Nisan 14 supposed to be April 23rd?

sorry folks if i missed this somewhere before, but isn't nisan 14 supposed to line up with our current calendar on april 23rd?

i didn't go to the memorial last night so i do not know if they tried explaining this difference.

i always thought that nisan 14 was the date that they used to celebrate the memorial.

unless I am forgetting something, the Passover is always on the full moon just after spring

which means they fudge the months in the hebrew calender and add one when it gets too far out of wack

so nisan 14 should always fall just after spring, the first full moon.

I have not been since my last one in 1990

but someone tell me if they ever noticed this:

I remember them going to GREAT lengths to show that Jesus initiated the memorial AFTER Judas had been given his walking papers

yet the combined gospels accounts clearly contradicts this showing Judas was still there and only left AFTERWARDS

which seemed to me a good indication of how they value their doctrinal myths above what the bible actually plainly states.

The evidence AGAINST evolution

no, sorry, i won't be providing any.

this is a thread for those that have done some research and concluded that evolution is not how various species came to exist.. have you done the research?

do you believe that species exist as a result of god's direct creation?

I do believe in the basics of evolution, but there seems to be one aspect that is not accounted for and may play a part

though I dont believe any god is involved, and that is consciousness....or some factor that has the ability to see and change things outside of simple evolution...

example, I have seen butter flies with every letter of the alpha bet on their wings

I have seen plants that look like wasps

I have see many animals with deceptive appearances that scream out, hey wait a minute...random variations retained because of advantage does not explain how this animal had the ability to randomly develope these particular traits which no other animals remotely possess... know what ah mean vern?

An Elder Told Me.... Many To Be Disfellowshipped Soon...

an elder told me the book is jehovah's latest provision to cleanse his organization.. he said soon all people that have drifted, inactives, and others baptized and not complying with the biblical mandates for a jw, will be visited and given an option to shape up or ship out.. he said that if the person refuses the help offered by the congregation they'll be notified of the date of disfellowshipping and given time to appeal the decision.. he was so happy stating that this way jehovah's organization was preparing for the final clean-up before armageddon.

he sounded so convincing that it almost made perfect sense what he was saying.

i got goose bumps listening to his reasoning.. dy

Anyone who enjoys this that much is a bloodthirsty creep.

many times I have felt joy and excitement and guilt over something truly horrible...I think its just a natural reaction to anything new that relieves some of the boredom of life.

I think this elder believes that FINALLY the real end is here..and that is where the joy and excitement comes, not from killing off all those who are getting the axe which I believe he really does not even think about.
